A message from Eve Myles

Yesterday Eve Myles met Dewi, a 3-year old with CP (Cerebral Palsy), his amazing family are trying to raise money to get him to USA for surgery. Bellow is a message from Eve.

I met the most brave and beautiful family today. Their story absolutely broke my heart. Please take a few minutes to read this.

Dewi is a 3 year old boy with Cerebral Palsy from Pontypridd South Wales. Just like any other 3 year old he dreams of being able to jump, run and ride a bike without pain. Unfortunately Dewi has diaplegia spacicity cerebral palsy. His parents perform daily physio therapy and he has treatment once a week from a physiotherapist but now his parents have discovered an operation called SDR which would help but with limited availability in the UK he’ll need to go to the USA for treatment.
The challenge now is to raise £60,000 to make this happen. Dewi’s brave parents and 8 year old sister (pictured above with young Dewi) are doing what they can to raise money.

Please donate to help this family raise funds for an operation in the USA to help him. Anything you can give will be so gratefully received and can make such a difference.

Go to http://www.justgiving.com/DewisDreams and give what you can and tell your friends. Follow them on twitter @dewisdreams and help spread the word.

Thank you so much!

Love Eve Myles

Josh Trank walks from Star Wars spin-off

Rumours were flying around after Josh Trank failed to appear at Star Wars celebration, at the panel he was meant to attend with the Rogue One director, Gareth Edwards. Trank’s people said he had the flu and was regrettably unable to attend. But it now seems there was more to that story.

Disney/Lucasfilm have confirmed that Trank is no longer involved in the second Star Wars Anthology (that’s spin-off to us laymen’s).

The studio said:

“It was a privilege to collaborate with Josh. We are grateful for the energy and love of Star Wars that he brought to the process, and we wish him all the best”.

Personally, I was excited to see what Trank would bring to the Star Wars universe and I’m sad to see him leave.

Trank added:

“After a year of having the incredible honour of developing with the wonderful and talented people at Lucasfilm, I’m making a personal decision to move forward on a different path. I’ve put a tremendous amount of thought into this, and I know deep down in my heart that I want to pursue some creative opportunities. That said, the Star Wars universe has always been one of my biggest influences, and I couldn’t be more excited to witness its future alongside my millions of fellow Star Wars fans. I want to thank my friends Kathleen Kennedy, Kiri Hart, Simon Kinberg, and everyone at Lucasfilm and Disney for the amazing opportunity to have been a part of this. May the Force be with you all.”

Joss Whedon wanted a Daredevil movie

Joss Whedon is currently doing the press tour for Avengers:Age of Ultron (review coming soon). During one such interview, Whedon revealed that he actually fought with Marvel to make it a film, instead of a TV series.

He said:

“I fought for Daredevil to be a film instead of a TV show. Then under the auspices of Drew Goddard and Steven DeKnight.  I’m dying to see the show but they released it just as I started the press tour. If the show’s working, the show’s working. Comic books are serialised entertainment and a lot of them lend themselves to TV shows as much or more than they do to movies. I like Daredevil because he’s basically Marvel’s Batman, thanks to Frank Miller basically. So for me I didn’t think they’d be able to sustain that sort of mood on TV but TV has changed so much. It’s come up so much that I think it might just be the right place.”

Marvel kicked off the first of its four Netflix shows earlier this month, with Daredevil. The 13-part series landed on our devices on April the 10th. I’ve already binge watched it twice (review coming soon).

Ultimately, I think Marvel were right to go for a series. Netflix allows them to enter the slightly grittier side of the MCU, that mainstream American networks would never allow. I really hope the rumoured Netflix Punisher show is true.

Jemma Redgrave returning to Doctor Who

The BBC confirmed today that fan favourite Jemma Redgrave will be reprising her role as Kate Stewart, in Episodes 7 and 8 of series 9 of Doctor Who.
Fans had worried that future appearances in Doctor Who might be off the cards, due to Kate Stewart being given her on audio Spin-Off with Big Finish.
In the video below Redgrave discusses her involvement in the upcoming series.

An airdate has yet to be announced, but the series is expected to air on August 29th.
Unit-Extinction is due for release later in the year.

Frank Miller working on Dark Knight sequel

Well, here’s some news I didn’t see coming. Frank Miller is writing the third part in his Dark Knight trilogy.

Titled ‘The Dark Knight III:The master race, the story will pick up where the 1986 story ‘The Dark Knight strikes back’ left off. The Dark Knight returns is hailed as the bible to Batman fans, year strikes back was less well received.

Miller will be joined by DC writer Brian Azzarello (Batman: Flashpoint, Wonder Woman). The story will span eight issues. It will be published twice a month, from this autumn.

Miller said:

“Batman remains my favourite comic book hero and a sequel to Dark Knight is going to be daunting, but we’ll do our best.”

I’m excited by this news, I hope that Miller can rekindle the magic he had with the Dark Knight Returns.

Sony announce animated Spider-Man movie

Sony Pictures announced yesterday that they are developing an animated film based on the exploits of Spidey. I’m excited by this news, as they’ve hired The Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller to write and produce the feature.

The movie has been given the US release date of July 20th, 2018.

The animated movie will not be connected to the new Spider-Man universe that Marvel and Sony are building. I’ve long been a fan of the short lived MTV/Sony series from 2003, starring Neil Patrick Harris. I think there is room for an animated Spider-Man, but they should go the series route.

Having said that, I do hope the movie succeeds.

Trailer-The Death of superman lives:What happened?

The final trailer has been released for The death of Superman lives:What Happened?

The documentary is directed by Jon Schnepp and is a fascinating look into the failed Tim Burton Superman project.  The Death of Superman Live: What Happened?

It includes interviews with Tim Burton, Jon Peters, screenwriters Kevin Smith and Dan Gilroy, and many, many more more.

As a life long Superman fan, I have long been interested in the details of this failed project. This documentary seems to be the most insightful look we’ll get.

The film is released worldwide onJuly 9th, via streaming, DVD, Blu-ray, and VOD.
