Edgar Wright drops out of Ant-Man

Here is a bit of surprising news. Edgar Wright has dropped out of directing Ant-Man.
Wright has been working on the project since 2006.
For years he and Joe Cornish have worked on the script, adapting it to fit in with current Marvel continuity. Everybody involved in the Marvel universe has previously said how excited they were to see a Wright at the helm.

Marvel have apparently found a new director and the film is still scheduled for release on July 17th, 2015.

Gareth Edwards to launch Star Wars spin-off

Unless you’re a goat herder living in outer Mongolia, you probably know that Gareth Edwards will be helming the first solo spin-off Star Wars movie, due for release in December 2016.

Recently Hasbro held a you conference in Spain and a leaked memo has been doing the rounds. It cites the three spin-off movies.

The list read as follows:

Solo, 2016.

Boba Fett, 2018

Red 5, 2020.

I’m excited, for the next five years we’re going to have a Star Wars based film out every year. May the force be with us.

Batfleck revealed

Zack Snyder had released the first image of Ben Affleck as Batman. You can’t really see much, but so far, I like what I see. It’s very reminiscent of the costume from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns.
Is that the Joker’s face I spot, just behind Batman?

Film Review-The Amazing Spider-Man 2

In “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” director Marc Webb demonstrates skill in crafting drama and romance, particularly in the chemistry between Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) and Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). However, the film’s action elements suffer due to a crowded plot with too many villains to juggle.

Jamie Foxx’s Electro is the primary antagonist, but his character lacks depth and fails to engage audiences. Foxx does his best to bring life to the role, but his efforts are hampered by the film’s attempts to balance multiple storylines.

The addition of Dane Dehaan as Harry Osborn falls short of expectations, with Dehaan’s performance lacking the charisma and charm that James Franco brought to the role in the previous trilogy. The Green Goblin’s appearance is also disappointing, with poorly executed makeup and design.

The film attempts to address the mystery surrounding Peter’s father, but this plot thread only adds to the cluttered narrative. The focus on Peter’s personal relationships with Gwen and Harry is more compelling and could have been developed further.

While the script and direction of the film may have left something to be desired, Andrew Garfield’s portrayal of Peter Parker/Spider-Man is a standout performance that shouldn’t be missed. Garfield expertly captures the character’s wit, courage, and vulnerability, delivering a nuanced and multi-layered performance that elevates the film.

One particularly memorable moment is a montage of Spider-Man swinging through New York, showcasing the hero in action across all seasons of the year. This sequence stands out as some of the best Spider-Man action ever captured on film, a testament to Garfield’s ability to fully embody the character and bring him to life in a thrilling and engaging way.

The film’s most effective sequence occurs in the third act, but the subsequent final battle with Rhino feels tacked on and undercuts the emotional impact of the previous scene.

Overall, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” suffers from an overloaded plot and a lack of focus, leaving little hope for the future of the franchise. If there is an Amazing Spider-Man 3, it won’t be directed by Marc Webb.

Tom Baker makes a surprise reveal

20140414-122955.jpg

Tom Baker attended the launch party for ‘who on horror’ today and made a surprise reveal.
He was actually due to appear in the Doctor Who spin-off ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’. But, the sad passing of Elisabeth Sladen stopped this from becoming a reality.
Baker didn’t say who he would have played, but it really is a shame that the pair didn’t have one more on-screen adventure.

Elisabeth Sladen famously played Sarah Jane alongside Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker. She left the role in 1976 but reprised it four times, before being given her own spin-off in 2007.
Sladen lost her secret battle with cancer in 2011.

Who on horror launches on the horror channel on Good Friday.

Stars Chris Barrie, Robert Llewellyn, Danny John-Jules, and Craig Charles confirmed the news at a recent sci-fi convention, revealing that filming is set to begin in October 2014. While the wait until 2015 for new episodes may be long, fans can’t wait to catch up with the quirky mining ship crew once more.
