Stephen Merchant’s sitcom ‘Hello Ladies’ has been cancelled after just one season.
Hello Ladies was Merchant’s first series without regular co-writer, Ricky Gervais.
The series focused on Merchant’s character Stuart, an awkward Englishman looking for love in California.
A one-off special will be made to wrap up loose ends.
Capaldi’s costume revealed
With filming under way on series 8, it was only a matter of time before we got a glimpse of Peter Capaldi’s costume and here it is below.
I love it. It’s like a modern take on Jon Pertwee’s costume.
Capaldi said of his costume “No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord.”
Series 8 is currently filming and is expected to air in August.
Carrie Fisher confirms Star Wars involvement
Rumours have been rife since it was first announced that Disney will be delivering us a new adventure from a galaxy far, far away. But the original stars would not comment. But now Carrie Fisher has confirmed that she, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill will be returning to Star Wars.
An official announcement has yet to be made by Disney, but I’m willing to accept Fisher at her word.
It was confirmed last week that the script is now complete and that filming will begin in England next month.
Roger Lloyd-Pack dies at 69
Roger Lloyd-Pack, the actor best known for his role as Colin “Trigger” Ball in the classic BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses, has died aged 69.
His agent confirmed that he died at home, after losing a battle with pancreatic cancer on Wednesday night.
Tributes have poured in from former co-stars and members of the public.
Sir David Jason said “I was very saddened to hear of Roger’s passing. He was a very quiet, kind and unassuming actor who was a pleasure to work with. Although he played the simple soul of Trigger in Only Fools and Horses, he was a very intelligent man and a very fine actor capable of many roles. I shall remember him with fondness and for all the good times we had together.”
Lloyd-Pack leaves behind a daughter and three sons.
First picture of Capaldi as the Doctor
Filming started today on the first episode of series 8 of Doctor Who. Below is the first picture of Peter Capaldi as The Doctor.
Here’s what the BBC had to say.
“The new Doctor, Peter Capaldi, stepped on set today for his first full day of filming as production begins on series 8 of the hit BBC show.
10.2 million tuned-in on Christmas Day to get their first glimpse of Capaldi in one of TV’s most iconic roles in the festive special ‘The Time of the Doctor’, which saw Matt Smith hang-up his bow tie after 4 years in the role.
Capaldi was revealed as the Doctor in a live BBC One show in August, after months of speculation about the next Doctor’s identity.
Arriving on set in Cardiff to begin filming, Peter Capaldi said:
“New job, first day, slightly nervous. Just like the Doctor, I’m emerging from the TARDIS into a whole other world.”
Steven Moffat, Lead Writer and Executive Producer, added:
“First the eyebrows! Then, at Christmas, the face! Coming soon, the whole Doctor. In the Cardiff studios, the Capaldi era begins.
The first episode of series 8 has been written by Steven Moffat with the second episode by Phil Ford. These are the first episodes that Peter will film and are directed by Ben Wheatley.
This move shatters the tradition of filming the new Doctor, they normally film the fourth and fifth episodes first.
The series is expected to air in August.

Sadly, it’s just the two of them as the scheduling didn’t quite work out with the rest of the team. Fear not, Mark and Pete will return in 2014.
The next episode is likely to be a review of Time Of The Doctor.

Doctor Who news
Today at the final BFI screening celebrating 50-years of Doctor Who, show runner Steven Moffat revealed that series 8 will not be split and that the full 13 episodes will air consecutively. The news will be welcomed by fans who have felt that the split series has been to the shows detriment.
Series 8 is expected to air in August 2014 and will see Peter Capaldi pick up the search for Gallifrey, with Jenna Coleman as his companion.

Friends conspiracy theory
Now, I am currently suffering the flu and am whacked out on flu medication so, this may be crazy talk. But, something hit me like a bolt of lightning earlier today. The entire 10-year run of Friends was a social experiment set up by Doctor’s Niles and Frasier Crane. I haven’t quite figured out what that social experiment is, but I’m assuming it’s something to do with memory loss and post-traumatic stress.
First off, none of the friends really know anything about their own life’s.
In one of the early episodes, Joey and Chandler offer to take Ross to a hockey game for his birthday, and the date in that is said to be October 20th. He says, “my birthday was 7 months ago,” which would place his birthday in March, yet in the episode where Ross tries to punch Joey and breaks his thumb, they fill out his details, Ross says “you know my birthday!?” And Joey says “May-tem-ber???” And Ross says “OCTOBER 18”!
Ross’ age is a bone of contention across the whole series. He stays 29 for three whole series whilst the other friend’s age.
In the episode where Ross and his girlfriend Julie are getting a cat, Monica talks fondly of their childhood cat and even has his old toys. In the very next episode, when Monica is tasting the Fistachio product she says she’s allergic to cats and is for the rest of the shows run.
Phoebe often talks about her hard life living homeless on the streets, yet lived with her loving grandmother. She is fluent in French, yet in a later episode doesn’t speak a word of it.
The spelling of Rachel’s last name changes every year sometimes it’s ‘Green’ then ‘Greene’ then back to ‘Green’.
Chandler and Rachel met 4 times before the first episode is set and they don’t remember each other, she saw him get his toe cut off, you remember seeing someone get their toe cut off.
In the first episode it’s established that Ross and Carol split up a year prior to the episode, yet later that series Carol turns up 8-months pregnant. We’re also told that Carol was the only woman Ross slept with, but it later turns out he slept with an older woman in college.
Joey and Chandler’s apartment number changes from 4 to 19, whilst Monica’s changes from 5 to 20 without any of them realising. A whole episode set up the fact that Chandler has never cried, yet the previous series showed Phoebe make him cry.
Phoebe claims her dad left before she was born, yet later he walked out when she was 7.
Along with “get a life!” I hear you say “but Frasier and Niles were never in friends”.
No, they were never in friends. But, they did exist in the same universe. Phoebe’s twin sister, Ursula was a character in Mad about you, the characters from mad about you appeared in Friends. Chandler appeared in an episode of Caroline in the city. Caroline appeared in an episode of Friends, who else appeared in Caroline in the city?
Joey’s intelligence also takes a drastic knock over the years. He started out as an average guy then got dumber and dumber as the years went by.
What do you think? Does my theory hold any weight?
I’m likely to add more to this as further inconsistencies pop into my head.
I also think there’s something to the same people popping up with a new identity. Phoebe and Monica’s old Friend Amanda was later Joey’s agent, Bobby and Chandler’s psycho roommate Eddie, was Joey’s sister’s childhood boyfriend, Jimmy.
RIP Paul Walker
Star of the fast and furious films, Paul Walker, has died. He was 40 and leaves behind a 15-year-old daughter.
Walker was a passenger in a friends car heading towards a charity event.
His death was confirmed in a tweet by New Regency productions.
Walker was about to begin a press tour on his latest movie, Hours, which had been scheduled for release later this month. He had also just finished work on the latest fast and furious movie.
Tributes have poured in across the Internet from fans and his friends. Tyrese Gibson said “my heart is hurting so bad, no one can make me believe this is real. Father god I pray that you send clarity over this because I don’t understand. We just celebrated your 40th birthday…my god…my god, I can’t believe I’m writing this.
A statement from Universal: “All of us at Universal are heartbroken. Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the ‘Fast and Furious’ films, and to countless fans.”
