Michelle Gomez returning to Doctor Who

Here’s some Doctor Who news that won’t shock anyone, Michelle Gomez will be reprising her role as the master “Missy” in series 9. She joins Peter Capaldi (The Doctor) and Jenna Coleman (Clara Oswald) for the opening two-part story.

Michelle Gomez said: “Things have been a little beige since I left Missy behind, so I’m delighted to be putting my lippie back on. I’m positively dying to see The Doctor again!”

The opening episodes have been written by head writer, Steven Moffat and are titled The Magician’s Apprenticeand The Witch’s Familiar,

Steven Moffat added: “Everybody hide – Michelle Gomez as Missy was an instant hit last year, so she’s straight back to plague the Doctor and Clara in the series opener. But what brings her back into their lives is the last thing they’d expect.”

It was also announced that Jemma Redgrave will be reprising her role as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart.

The series is expected to launch August 29th.

Deadpool starts shooting in March

Fans have been waiting years to see Ryan Reynolds reprise his role as the merch with the mouth, now we’re one step closer. He and director Tim Miller are in pre-production for Deadpool. The movie finally starts shooting in Canada, in March.

The movie has booked two months at Vancouver’s North Shore Studios, although it isn’t known if the production will shoot in any other locations around the city.

I can’t wait, I’ve always thought that Ryan Reynolds was born to play two roles, Wally West AKA The Flash and, Wade Wilson AKA Deadpool.

I really hope the film can live up to my expectations. Reynolds and Miller has stated they wanted this to be R-rated (18 in proper money). But the pair eventually made a compromise with Fox, who wanted a PG-13 (12A in proper money).

The film will also star T.J. Miller (big hero 6) and Ed Skrein (the upcoming Statham-less Transporter movie).
Deadpool is set for a February 2016 release and will be part of the wider X-Men universe.

Trailer-John Wick

Keanu Reeves has often been criticised for his lack of “range” however, when you need a good-looking moody guy who can kick ass, he’s the only one you call.
Below is the first trailer for his upcoming movie ‘John Wick’.

When a retired hit man is forced back into action by a brutal Russian mobster, he hunts down his adversaries with the ruthlessness that made him a crime underworld legend in John Wick; a stylish tale of revenge and redemption.

After the sudden death of his beloved wife, John Wick (Keanu Reeves) receives one last gift from her, a beagle puppy named Daisy, and a note imploring him not to forget how to love. But John’s mourning is interrupted when his 1969 Boss Mustang catches the eye of sadistic thug Iosef Tarasov (Alfie Allen) who breaks into his house and steals it, beating John unconscious and leaving Daisy dead. Unwittingly, they have just reawakened one of the most brutal assassins the underworld has ever seen.

John’s search for his stolen vehicle takes him to a side of New York City that tourists never see, a hyper-real, super-secret criminal community, where John Wick was once the baddest guy of all.

I am ridiculously excited for this film, I love a moody Keanu.

JOHN WICK opens nationwide across the UK on 10th April 2015.

Russell T Davies wants to write a Doctor Who movie

Former Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies has expressed his interest in writing a Doctor Who movie, during an interview on BBC Radio 2. Davies, who is promoting his new set of shows for Channel 4, said that he believes the film should be in cinemas immediately and that it would be glorious. He added that if the lawyers and contracts could be sorted out, he would love to write the script for the movie.

Fans of the long-running sci-fi series have been hoping for a big screen adaptation for years, and many would be thrilled to see Davies return to the Whoniverse. Some have even speculated that he and fellow former showrunner Steven Moffat could team up to write the film, though nothing has been confirmed yet. While Davies has ruled out returning to write another TV episode, a Doctor Who movie could be the perfect opportunity for him to revisit the beloved character and universe he helped create.

Torchwood is coming back….on audio

During a press conference for the CW show Arrow, John Barrowman, who is now a series regular on the show, announced that the BBC is producing “three or four” audio dramas based on the popular series Torchwood. Barrowman, who portrayed Captain Jack Harkness on the show, also revealed that he and his sister Carole E. Barrowman are considering writing one of the dramas. The siblings have previously co-written Torchwood novels and comics together.

Barrowman didn’t provide any details about the timeframe or plot for the audio dramas, or whether they take place before or after the events of Miracle Day. However, he did mention that at least one of the stories will feature the original Torchwood team and that Torchwood producers Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner will also be involved. With the last Torchwood episode airing four years ago, fans of the show will undoubtedly be thrilled to hear about these upcoming audio dramas.

Lando Calrissian joins Star Wars:Rebels

Billy Dee Williams’ return in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” remains unknown, some speculate that the filmmakers may be saving his appearance for Episode 8. As a beloved character who first appeared in the original trilogy’s second installment, his comeback in the new trilogy’s second film would make for a satisfying nod to the franchise’s history.

For fans who can’t wait for Lando’s return, there’s good news. Williams will be reprising his role in the eleventh episode of Series 1, titled “Idiot’s Array.” In this episode, Zeb loses Chopper in a game of Sabacc to none other than Lando Calrissian.

Williams is now the third original trilogy star to make a comeback, following James Earl Jones as Darth Vader and Frank Oz as Yoda. It’s an exciting time for fans to see their favorite characters return to the big screen.

Marvel and Sony close to making a deal?

A few more details have started to leak through about the Sony/Marvel deal.
Previously it had looked like Sony would licence out Spider-Man for Marvel to do with as they pleased. Now, it seems that it would be a straight down the middle collaboration between the two companies.
The deal would see Marvel able to use Spider-Man, in turn Sony would be able to use any two Marvel characters.

That deal sounds pretty sensible to me. It’s probably too late in the day for Spidey to swing in to civil war, but I fully expect him to appear in Avengers:Infinity War.
I really hope it works, it would open the doors for collaborations between other studios.

DVD review-Sex tape

In the film, “Sex Tape,” Jason Segal and Cameron Diaz play a married couple with kids who are struggling to find time for intimacy. Segal’s character is inexplicably given a stack of iPads, which he hands out to people he knows after syncing them to his email address. This plot point stretches believability, as it’s unlikely someone would activate an iPad with their own details and then hand it over to someone else.

To make matters worse, the couple discovers that they accidentally recorded themselves acting out the Kama Sutra on one of the iPads. After receiving a text from an unknown number, they embark on a wild night in LA’s suburbs to retrieve all of the iPads they gave away.

Unfortunately, the film feels like a stretched-out, rejected episode of “How I Met Your Mother.” The only source of genuine laughs comes from Rob Lowe, who shamelessly pokes fun at his own sex tape past.

Despite the lackluster plot and character development, the iPad itself seems to be the most fleshed-out and believable character in the film.

Marvel wanted Spider-Man for infinity war as well as Civil War

The Sony hack continues to reveal intriguing details about Marvel’s plans for Spider-Man. Recently, it was revealed that Marvel approached Sony about including the web-slinger in “Captain America: Civil War” and the two-part “Avengers: Infinity War.”

According to reports, Marvel wanted to launch a new Spider-Man series following his appearance in “Civil War.” Although the new films wouldn’t directly continue the “Civil War” plot, it would be clear that they existed in the same universe.

In the proposed storyline, Tony Stark recruits Spider-Man for the Avengers, and he joins them on a mission before returning to Sony for his own solo movie. After that, he would return to assist in the two-part “Avengers: Infinity War,” with Sony releasing a second Spider-Man movie in 2019.

While the idea of Spider-Man teaming up with the Avengers is exciting, some fans lament the loss of Andrew Garfield, who played the role in the previous two movies. He was the saving grace of those films. Regardless, it remains to be seen who will ultimately don the Spider-Man suit in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
