Rumour:Affleck to star in Batman trilogy

This is only a rumour at the moment, but I would be very surprised if it isn’t true.

According to den of geek, WB want Ben Affleck to star in a trilogy of Batman films.

Den of geeks sources claim that at a recent cast and crew screening of Batman V Superman:Dawn of justice, which included several of the WB’s top suits, the film received a standing ovation.

The suits are apparently so impressed with Affleck’s portrayal, that they want to lock him into a “golden deal” that would see him playing the capes crusader for the next ten years.

Meet Wally West

23-year old Australian actor, Keiynan Lonsdale has been cast as Wally West in the second series of the hit show, The Flash.
In the comics, Wally West is Iris’ nephew. After an accident similar to Barry Allen’s, he becomes Kid Flash and eventually, takes over as The Flash.

Flash Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg said of the casting:

“Just like when we met Grant [Gustin] for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero. We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show.”

I not familiar with Lonsdale’s work but The Flash producers haven’t made a bad casting choice yet.

It’ll be interesting to see if they keep him as Iris’ nephew. I suspect they will change his origin a little and he’ll be from an alternate Earth, where Joe had a son instead of a daughter.

Sony announce Bad Boys 3+4

It’s no secret that Sony, along with the cast have wanted a Bad Boys 3.

The studio announced today that not only will we be getting a third instalment to the franchise, we’ll also be getting a fourth.

I’ll admit now, I love the first two movies and I’m eager for the third.

Bad Boys 3 is scheduled to hit cinemas on February 17th, 2017, with Bad Boys 4 in July 3rd 2019.

It’s unknown at this point if Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will be reprising their roles.

Lexus Hoverboard

Hoverboads are now real and, these boards work on water.
Some of you may know that Lexus have been claiming to have built a fully functioning Hoverboard for a few months now, now they’ve finally revealed some footage.

My jaw is hanging open as I type this. Below are three of the videos for their hoverboard, SLIDE. It uses magnetic levitation and nitrogen-cooled superconductors to float above the ground, and it’s awesome.

The first video features some skaters testing it on a specially built skate park. This is the video we’ve all been waiting 26 years to see. Back to the future 2 has finally come true.

Trailer-She’s funny that way

Young Hollywood starlet Isabella (Imogen Poots) recalls how the actions of charming Broadway director, Arnold (Owen Wilson), changed her life forever. A classic style New York romantic comedy with touches of screwball and a sprinkling of terrific cameos. The former escort reminisces to a reporter (Illeana Douglas) about her rags to riches fairy tale – a chain of events affecting the lives of everyone involved, including Arnold’s wife Delta (Kathryn Hahn), leading man Seth (Rhys Ifans), playwright Joshua (Will Forte) and even Isabella’s therapist, Jane (Jennifer Aniston).

Directed by Peter Bogdanovich (What’s Up Doc?), SHE’S FUNNY THAT WAY stars Owen Wilson (Zoolander 2), Imogen Poots (A Long Way Down), Jennifer Aniston (Cake), Will Forte (The Lego Movie), Kathryn Hahn (Tomorrowland) and Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill). The film is Executive Produced by Wes Anderson and Noam Baumbach.

Lionsgate UK releases She’s Funny That Way on DVD on 10th August

Channing Tatum walks from Gambit?

I imagine very few of us saw this coming. According to The Wrap Channing Tatum is dropping out of the Gambit movie, which he has been trying to get Fox to make for years.

This was a long passion project for Tatum, he’s spoken enthusiastically about the film in every interview for the past three or four years.

He even surprised fans at comic con by attending the X-Men panel in Hall H.

No reason has been given yet, as to why he is leaving. But Tatum did admit in an interview recently that he was struggling with the Cajun accent.

Gambit is scheduled for release at the end of 2016.

Dan Aykroyd confirms Ghostbusters cameo

Dan Aykroyd confirmed last night that he has a cameo in Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot. Sadly, he won’t be reprising his role as Ray Stantz. This is what the man himself posted on Facebook. Which, he has now deleted.

“ON SET OF GHOSTBUSTERS SHOOTING MY SCENE WITH THE FUNNY AND BEAUTIFUL KRISTEN WIIG. LADY GB’S are adorable, beautiful,…”

According to Indie Revolver, Aykroyd will be playing a New York cab driver that Kristen Wiig’s character attempts to hail. Apparently, “Aykroyd throws out the iconic line, ‘I ain’t afraid of no ghosts.’ As he drives away with Wiig saying ‘That’s a double negative! That means you are afraid of ghosts!’”

I’m open minded about the reboot, but this news makes me die a little bit inside. I would have been happier if this project were a soft reboot with the original cast retiring and handing over the keys to the new cast.

Big Finish Review-Doctor Who: We are the Daleks

“We Are the Daleks” marks the beginning of a new era for Big Finish, which has released over 200 audio dramas and now seeks to provide a fresh entry point for new listeners. Each Doctor will lead a new trilogy of stories, starting with the Seventh Doctor and Mel.

Set in 1987, the UK is a divided nation with striking workers in Bradford and wealthy stockbrokers in the City of London. Alek Zenos, the enigmatic head of the Zenos Corporation, offers an economic miracle to Britain, which proves too tempting for politicians and investors alike. While the Doctor investigates the Warfleet computer game craze, Mel goes undercover to uncover the truth about Zenos’s partners.

The Daleks have a new plan to conquer the universe: economic power through the free market. This old-school Dalek story pays homage to previous Dalek tales of the era while satirizing Thatcherism and the “greed is good” campaign.

McCoy excels as the Seventh Doctor, my personal favourite from the classic era. His final speech to the Daleks is chilling and on par with Matt Smith’s speech in “The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang.”

Big Finish excels at giving characters a second chance, as seen with Bonnie Langford’s Mel. Underserved on TV, Mel was originally intended to be played as Violet Elizabeth Bot. Big Finish has unlocked Mel’s full potential, turning her into the companion she should have been on screen.

This multi-layered story explores themes of ambition, greed, and exclusion, even taking a jab at Michael Fish. “We Are the Daleks” is an excellent start to Big Finish’s new era.
