The defenders to appear with the avengers?

The MCU is  constantly growing and expanded with all different kinds of spin-off’s being commissioned. ABC have agents of shield, agent Carter and an as of yet untitled Shield spin-off.

Over at Netflix they have Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist.

The Netflix  heroes make up a team called The Defenders. The Avengers take on global threats like alien invasions, the defenders take on local threats like mobsters.

According to recent rumours the Defenders will appear in Avengers:infinity war part 2. I don’t doubt that the defenders will appear on the big screen, however, I think they will first appear in Captain America:Civil war.

By the time Avengers: Infinity War roles around in 2018, the MCU will have changed drastically. The avengers line-up will be different and we will have been introduced to characters such as; Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Spider-Man.

Do you think the grittier side of the MCU has a place in the Avengers? Let us know below.

Wonder Woman loses director

Not much is known at the moment, but Warner Bros. have released a press release stating that Michelle Maclaren will no longer direct Wonder Woman.

The studio said:

“Given creative differences, Warner Bros. and Michelle MacLaren have decided not to move forward with plans to develop and direct Wonder Woman together.”

Warner Brothers have been very outspoken about hiring a female director for this project, I hope they can find someone in time for the 2017 release date.

Universal still own solo Hulk rights

Fans have been screaming for a solo Hulk movie since Mark Ruffalo first smashed his way on to screen.

Whilst doing press for Avengers:Age of ultron, Ruffalo revealed why we haven’t yet seen a Hulk movie.

“As far as a Hulk movie, a standalone Hulk movie, Marvel doesn’t really have the rights to that yet. That’s still Universal’s property, so there’s that issue. That’s a big impediment to moving forward with that. Now I don’t think that’s insurmountable, by the way, but I don’t know where it’s going from here for me”.

Because Universal has distribution rights for a solo Hulk film, that does make a solo film difficult for Marvel. But a few years ago, we thought a Sony/Marvel deal was a pipe dream so a universal/Marvel deal isn’t impossible.

X-Men rumour

Three things are certain in life, death, taxes, and that Fox will never make an X-Men film without an appearance from Hugh Jackman.

It’s rumoured that Wolverine and Storm will appear in cameos, alongside Chanming Tatum as gambit in X-Men:Apocalypse. The movie starts shooting soon and will also mark Jennifer Lawrence’s last turn as Mystique.

Ruth Negga cast in Preacher

Ruth Negga (Misfits.) has been cast as the female lead in Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Preacher series for AMC.

Preacher is based on a 90’s comic by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.

The book follows Jesse Custer, a Texas preacher whom has the ability to make anyone do anything he says.

Negga is the first actor cast in the pilot and will take the role of Jesse’s ex-girlfriend, Tulip,  who joins him on a quest to literally find God.

She’s described as:

a volatile, action-packed, sexified force of nature, a capable, unrepentant criminal with a love of fashion and ability to construct helicopter-downing bazookas out of coffee cans and corn shine who’s not afraid to steal, kill or corn cob-stab her way out of a bad situation.

Vin Diesel nearly breaks down paying tribute to Paul Walker

Vin Diesel appeared at a recent advanced screening of Furious 7, to introduce the film to the audience.

He starts by talking about it being the hardest project he’s worked on. He then speaks in tribute of Paul Walker, whom sadly died in a car crash in 2013.

“Every time when I saw the movie at the premiere, Paul Walker and I would go off to the side and he would always tell me, ‘Vin, the best one’s still in the can.’ Well, I hope tonight that you let Pablo know that this, this is the best one for you guys”.

The cast and crew have promised that this will be a proper send off to their fallen brother.

Furious 7 is out in the UK next month.

Kevin Smith teases Mallrats sequel

It’s well known that Kevin Smith’s Mallrats was a complete box office bomb. The writer/actor/director’s follow-up to the beloved Clerks nearly ended his film career.

However it developed a huge cult following a few years later, after it arrived on VHS. I still place it in my top five Kevin Smith movies.

Smith has teased his Twitter followers with a sequel.

It wouldn’t be unheard of for Smith to return to an old project, he was making cinematic universes before they were common place.

My problem with a Mallrats sequel is that Jason Lee and the gang and now in their mid-forties, it would be a little bit ridiculous for them to still be running round a shopping centre.

Michelle Gomez returning to Doctor Who

Here’s some Doctor Who news that won’t shock anyone, Michelle Gomez will be reprising her role as the master “Missy” in series 9. She joins Peter Capaldi (The Doctor) and Jenna Coleman (Clara Oswald) for the opening two-part story.

Michelle Gomez said: “Things have been a little beige since I left Missy behind, so I’m delighted to be putting my lippie back on. I’m positively dying to see The Doctor again!”

The opening episodes have been written by head writer, Steven Moffat and are titled The Magician’s Apprenticeand The Witch’s Familiar,

Steven Moffat added: “Everybody hide – Michelle Gomez as Missy was an instant hit last year, so she’s straight back to plague the Doctor and Clara in the series opener. But what brings her back into their lives is the last thing they’d expect.”

It was also announced that Jemma Redgrave will be reprising her role as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart.

The series is expected to launch August 29th.

Deadpool starts shooting in March

Fans have been waiting years to see Ryan Reynolds reprise his role as the merch with the mouth, now we’re one step closer. He and director Tim Miller are in pre-production for Deadpool. The movie finally starts shooting in Canada, in March.

The movie has booked two months at Vancouver’s North Shore Studios, although it isn’t known if the production will shoot in any other locations around the city.

I can’t wait, I’ve always thought that Ryan Reynolds was born to play two roles, Wally West AKA The Flash and, Wade Wilson AKA Deadpool.

I really hope the film can live up to my expectations. Reynolds and Miller has stated they wanted this to be R-rated (18 in proper money). But the pair eventually made a compromise with Fox, who wanted a PG-13 (12A in proper money).

The film will also star T.J. Miller (big hero 6) and Ed Skrein (the upcoming Statham-less Transporter movie).
Deadpool is set for a February 2016 release and will be part of the wider X-Men universe.
