Ben Affleck confronts fans who say Superman is better

Last week, we saw Henry Cavill asked kids if they prefer Batman or Superman, this week Ben Affleck hid inside the batmobile during a tour of the warner bros studio and confronted fans who say Superman is better than Batman.

The video made me laugh and, it’s all to raise awareness for a good cause. Find out more information here.

Henry Cavill asks kids if they prefer Batman or Superman

“Who is better Batman or Superman?” That’s a question that comic book geeks have been asking for well over seventy years. We’ve seen them team up many times in comic form, but in just a few short weeks we will see the two icons battle it out on the big screen in, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, and Jesse Eisenberg have partnered with Omaze, to give fans the chance to enter in the “Ultimate Batman v. Superman Experience“.

In participation with Durrell wildlife park, Cavill interviewed a bunch of kids, and asked them who they prefer.

Big Finish reveal artwork for their tenth Doctor range

Big Finish has just given us our first look at the cover art, for their Tenth Doctor Adventures, which is due out in May.

The Tenth Doctor range sees the highly anticipated return of The tenth Doctor and Donna Noble, with David Tennant and Catherine Tate both reprising their roles.

1.1 Technophobia by Matt Fitton

When the Doctor and Donna visit London’s Technology Museum for a glimpse into the future, things don’t go to plan.

The most brilliant IT brain in the country can’t use her computer. More worrying, the exhibits are attacking the visitors, while outside, people seem to be losing control of the technology that runs their lives.

Is it all down to simple human stupidity, or is something more sinister going on?

Beneath the streets, the Koggnossenti are waiting. For all of London to fall prey to technophobia…

1.2 Time Reaver by Jenny T Colgan

Calibris. The spaceport planet where anything goes. Where anyone who doesn’t want to be found can be lost, and where everything has its price. Where betentacled gangster Gully holds sway at the smugglers’ tavern, Vagabond’s Reach.

The alien Vacintians are trying to impose some order on the chaos. Soon the Doctor and Donna discover why. An illegal weapon is loose on the streets. A weapon that destroys lives… Slowly and agonisingly.

The Time Reaver.

1.3 Death and the Queen by James Goss

Donna Noble has never been lucky in love.

So when, one day, her Prince does come, she is thrilled to have the wedding of all weddings to look forward to. Though the Doctor isn’t holding his breath for an invitation. And her future mother-in-law is certainly not amused.

But on the big day itself, Donna finds her castle under siege from the darkest of forces, marching at the head of a skeleton army.

When it looks like even the Doctor can’t save the day, what will Queen Donna do to save her people from Death itself?

Ryan Reynolds interviews Hugh Jackman

Hugh Jackman is currently doing the press rounds for the upcoming sports drama, Eddie the Eagle. On one of those junkets he was surprised to find Ryan Reynolds in the interview chair. Reynolds crashed the junket and asked Jackman a bunch of questions, most of which were sly digs at X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Reynolds shared the video on his YouTube channel, which you can view below.

Wolverine 3 to be R-rated?

Well, that didn’t take long. After not wanting to make the film, it looks like 20th Century Fox is set to embrace the publics desire for R-rated superheroes. Following the box office success of Deadpool; it seems the studio has confirmed that Hugh Jackman’s last adventure as Logan, in Wolverine 3 will follow the example set by Deadpool. Here’s a leaflet handed out at a Toy Fair, which reveals the rating they’re aiming for.

It’ll be interesting to see if this actually happens, there are many superheroes that could benefit from an R-rating. Wolverine is certainly one of those.

Sacha Baron Cohen takes a dig at the lack of diversity

The lack of diversity in the entertainment industry has been a problem for a while, but things escalated this year after the nominations for the 2016 Oscar’s were announced.

None of the people nominated for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, or Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards were people of colour. The hashtag #OscarsSoWhite started trending immediately.

At tonight’s BAFTA awards, Sacha Baron Cohen took to the stage and took a stab at the problem.

He said:

“The main reason I agreed to present at this awards ceremony is that BAFTA has shown none of the discrimination and prejudice which is so shamefully on display at the Oscars. It gives me great pride that every year BAFTA makes sure that one of the lead actress nominees is a dame Dench…Smith. The nomination for best white actress goes to…”

#drwhodaniel update

Most of our readers will be aware that over the Christmas period, we teamed up with the lovely guys over at Geeksynsicate to help a very ill Doctor Who fan have a truly great Christmas.

For those of you unaware, Daniel is a very ill 14-year old, who also happens to be massive Doctor Who fan.

He suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) and Postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS) he is totally bed bound and is fed via IV. He was admitted to a London hospital in November 2015 and is still there, as of February 2016. He’s also facing the minimum of another 3 month stay.

We had a tremendous start to the campaign, but we have started to stall now. We’ve hit a total brick wall with David Tennant and Matt Smith, both of whom Daniel would love to meet.

The Twitter hashtag #drwhodaniel is still running and we would appreciate it if you could spread the word.

Grant Gustin shares first picture of Supergirl cross over

Just over week ago, we learned that the much rumoured crossover between The Flash and Supergirl was officially going to happen. Along with the 90’s Flash, Kara Zor-El is very briefly glimpsed during the next episode of The Flash, which airs next week on Sky One.

Grant Gustin (The Flash/Barry Allen) took to Instagram to share the first photo of him and Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), both wearing their superhero costumes. Barry Allen and Kara can be seen on set, while shooting “World Finest” — the eighteenth episode in the first series of Supergirl.

I fully expect The Flash to travel to an alternate Earth, where Supergirl exists. Trust me, it’s only a matter of time before Arrow shows up in Gotham.

Matt LeBlanc confirmed as new Top Gear co-host

Here’s something I didn’t see coming, the BBC has announced today that former Friends star Matt LeBlanc has joined Top Gear, and will serve as a co-host to Chris Evans (not that one) when the show returns for its 23rd series in May.

LeBlanc said:

“As a car nut and a massive fan of Top Gear, I’m honoured and excited to be a part of this iconic show’s new chapter. What a thrill!”

Evans added:

“Matt’s a lifelong fellow petrolhead and I’m thrilled he’s joining Top Gear. Acting out our craziest car notions on screen is a dream job and I know we’ll both be debating some epic road trip ideas. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to on screen later this year.”

LeBlanc is undeniably a left field choice, but a pretty smart one. Not only is he a global household name, he also knows his cars and, he holds the record for the fastest-ever lap time on ‘Star in a Reasonably Priced Car’. On top of all that, he also a presented a spin-off special, Top Gear: The Races.

The Flash/Supergirl crossover has been confirmed

There’s been talks about a possible crossover between The Flash and Supergirl ever since Supergirl was announced. Well, now it’s been confirmed that the crossover between the two shows is actually going to happen.

American network, CW announced today that The Flash star Grant Gustin will guest star in an episode of Supergirl and that episode is set to air in the US on March 28th.

As of yet, plot details are very thin on the ground but I suspect this will involve Barry travelling to an alternate Earth.

Really really. Flash is about to meet Supergirl. @melissabenoist

Executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg had this to say:

“We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we started making ‘Supergirl’ – The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up! We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. And finally thanks to the fans and journalists who have kept asking for this to happen. It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone’s enthusiasm and support.”
