Batfleck speaks

Yesterday, Ben Affleck appeared on ‘Late night with Jimmy Fallon’ (American chat show). He discussed his casting and the internets reaction to it.

Affleck said on playing Batman.
“It’s so awesome, I’m so excited. They called me up and said, ‘Do you want to do this?’ And I said ‘I’m not 25, are you sure?’ And they said, ‘Come down, we want to show you what we’re doing.’ And it was incredible.

“Zack [Snyder] is directing it and he’s got this incredible take on it. Obviously he can’t do what Chris [Nolan] and Christian [Bale] did – those movies are amazing – so he wants to do something different but still in keeping with that. And I thought, ‘This is a brilliant way to do this, I really know how to hook into this.’”

On the Internet reaction.
“Before I accepted, they wanted to be sure I was ready. So, they showed me the reaction that-well, I won’t say their names, but other actors have received with their casting. I thought, I’m tough, I handle shit! I clicked online after it was announced and the first comment said Noooooooooooooooo!”

Batman Vs Superman is scheduled to open in July 2015.

Stargate reboot

After a hugely successful 10-year run on tv, two spin-off series and a few TV movies. Stargate is returning to the big screen with a reboot and a planned trilogy. There wont be any connection to the original film, or tv universe.
The movie will again be directed by Roland Emmerich, here’s what he had to say.

“We went to MGM, who has the rights, and proposed to them to do a sequel, but as a reboot… and reboot it as a movie and then do three parts. Pretty soon we’ll have to look for a writer and start.”

The Minister of chance

Paul McGann’s Rocketship to land in Chester’s ancient Roman Amphitheatre.

The company behind the star-studded film being made in Cheshire plans to land a rocketship in Chester’s Roman amphitheatre. Although the rocketship exists only as a model inside a computer, the team will invite attending fans to join in by acting as if they see the spectacle for the camera, with makeup artists and wardrobe assistants on hand to help. After some digital effects wizardry the rocketship will be added and the footage will be made available to the world’s media to publicize the film. A similar event was staged at Beeston Castle in August, when an alien weapon to be used in the film was test-fired with shocking results as you can see here: https://vimeo.com/73399919
At 11.30am on Saturday 14th September that alien pistol, carried in the film by Paul McGann’s character Durian, will be delivered ‘by rocketship'(landing in the amphitheatre) to the Grosvenor Museum in Chester where it will remain on display until needed for filming. In advance of that filming the prop has already been bought by an overseas fan as part of the crowd-funding campaign which is financing production.
The original series of The Minister of Chance stars Jenny Agutter, Julian Wadham,Lauren Crace, Sylvester McCoy, Philip Glenister and Tamsin Greig alongside McGann, and is free to download from iTunes or from www.ministerofchance.com, where fans can also get involved in the film campaign.
And in celebration of their nomination for the Parsec Awards in Atlanta this weekend, anyone buying a perk this weekend, and up until 12 midnight GMT on Weds 4th September, will automatically be entered in a draw to win a Tee-shirt of their choice from the Limited Edition range on the website.

My 6am (pre caffeine) thoughts on Batfleck

In a surprise announcement, Ben Affleck has been revealed as the new Batman, set to star alongside Henry Cavill in “Man of Steel 2,” slated for release on July 19th, 2015.

It’s a testament to Affleck’s rapid ascent as a director that my initial thought upon hearing the news was that he was being announced as the film’s director. While some skeptics have already voiced their disapproval, they were likely the same people who doubted that a skinny Welshman could play Batman, that Gary Oldman was a poor choice for Gordon, and that a muscular Australian could never pull off the Joker.

Affleck’s lifelong love for Batman is well-documented, having even used his first significant paycheck to build himself a Batcave. As an Oscar-winning writer and multi-award winning director, his mere presence on set is sure to elevate everyone behind the scenes to up their game. Now, all he needs to do is buy Zack Snyder a tripod.

If you’re one of the skeptics, just remember the doubts that were raised before Michael Keaton played Batman, before Heath Ledger portrayed the Joker, before Gary Oldman embodied Gordon, before Anne Hathaway donned the Catwoman costume, before Matt Smith became the Doctor, and before Daniel Craig stepped into the role of James Bond.

Personally, I think Affleck is an excellent choice, and I can’t wait to see him don the cape and cowl.

Review-The Lone Ranger

When John Reid (Armie Hammer) is on a train returning to his hometown, he 20130722-203159.jpgencounters Butch Cavendish (William Fichtner), an outlaw who is going to trial for his crimes. Tonto (Johnny Depp) is also on that train, having been arrested simply for being an Indian warrior. When the train is robbed and attacked by Butch’s gang, Cavendish escapes. A spirit horse revives Reid after he’s untimely death and it soon becomes Reid’s mission to bring Cavendish to justice.

The film fails in almost every aspect, the script is clunky and the tone never feels right.
The script isn’t the only problem, the movie relies on the charm of it’s leading men. The problem is, Hammer and Depp have absolutely no chemistry . The movie is dull and doesn’t deserve your time or money.
