Episode 107:Newscast

In which Martyn and Gerrod bring you the latest geek news.

Gerrod didn’t watch 2001:A space odyssey, so they couldn’t review that. The episode is raw and unedited (couldn’t be bothered).

The pair discuss a possible Spider-Man/X-Men crossover, Transformers news, belated sequels and squeaky chairs.

Tom Baker makes a surprise reveal

20140414-122955.jpg

Tom Baker attended the launch party for ‘who on horror’ today and made a surprise reveal.
He was actually due to appear in the Doctor Who spin-off ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’. But, the sad passing of Elisabeth Sladen stopped this from becoming a reality.
Baker didn’t say who he would have played, but it really is a shame that the pair didn’t have one more on-screen adventure.

Elisabeth Sladen famously played Sarah Jane alongside Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker. She left the role in 1976 but reprised it four times, before being given her own spin-off in 2007.
Sladen lost her secret battle with cancer in 2011.

Who on horror launches on the horror channel on Good Friday.

Ghostbusters 3?

20140319-010608.jpg

The director of the first two Ghostbuster films, Ivan Reitman announced today that Ghostbusters 3 will shoot in early 2015, but he won’t be directing it.
This news comes as a bit of a surprise after the recent death of Harold Ramis.
Ghostbusters 3 has been in development hell for nearly three decades. Bill Muarry has been very outspoken in the past about not wanting to be involved, so it’s unlikely that he will appear. As recent as 2013 Dan Akroyd stated that Ghostbusters 3 would centre around a new generation of Ghostbusters-with the originals acting as mentors and passing on the torch.

What do you think, does the world need another Ghostbusters? Let us know below.

DC and Marvel to battle it out in the cinema

20140314-100302.jpg

They’ve been rivals in the comic book world for years, now they will battle it out in the cinema.
Marvel announced today that June 6th 2016 will be the release date of Captain America 3. June 6th is also the date for the delayed Batman vs Superman movie. It will be interesting to see how each movie affects the other.
Growing up, I was a DC kid, so I’ll be seeing Batman vs Superman before I see Captain America 3.

First look at Matt Ryan in costume

20140313-151412.jpg

NBC have revealed the first in costume picture of Matt Ryan in Constantine.
Based on the hugely popular Hellblazer comics, the pilot will see the adventures of John Constantine as he captures escaped demons and returns them to hell.
The project is the first attempt at bringing Constantine to the screen since Keanu Reeves played the role in 2005.

Carrie Fisher confirms Star Wars involvement

20140123-093013.jpg

Rumours have been rife since it was first announced that Disney will be delivering us a new adventure from a galaxy far, far away. But the original stars would not comment. But now Carrie Fisher has confirmed that she, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill will be returning to Star Wars.

An official announcement has yet to be made by Disney, but I’m willing to accept Fisher at her word.
It was confirmed last week that the script is now complete and that filming will begin in England next month.
