Serial is becoming a TV series

Here’s something I didn’t see coming. Now, hopefully you’re a podcast listener but if you aren’t I guarantee you’ve heard of Serial. The podcast that started out as a Spin-off to This American Life, quickly become an international phenomenon hosted by Sarah Koenig, it even won the coveted Peabody Award.

The show delved deeply into the murder case of Hae Min Lee, whom was allegedly killed by her ex-boyfriend Adnan Syed, who was convicted and is serving a life sentence + 30, for her murder.

Sarah and her team were looking over the evidence and talking to those involved, to see if Syed was actually guilty of the crime. It’s absolutely gripping stuff, and I highly recommend it.

The rights to the show were shopped around last year. Now it’s been confirmed that there will be a TV show adaptation, not about the murder case. But about the podcast conception.

Sounds terrible? Well, hold your judgment for a second. It’s produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller — the men behind the Jump Street films, The LEGO Movie and, the upcoming Han Solo Star Wars prequel.
