Robert Downy Jr says no Iron Man 4

Ever since the details of the intense pay negotiations for Avengers 2 were made public, we’ve long wondered if we would see an Iron man 4. Well, the man himself has spoken out about it in a recent interview with Variety.
He said:

“There isn’t one in the pipe. No, there’s no plan for a fourth Iron Man.”

Downy Jr has signed up to be in both Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers 3, so if an Iron Man 4 movie were to happen, it probably wouldn’t be until 2020 at the earliest.
Avengers 3 is due for release in 2018.

When asked if he would let another actor play Tony Stark, he laughed and said:

“I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I’m casting director for Marvel.”

Other heroes have donned the suit in the comics, Rhodie took over for a while. So it’s entirely possible that we’ll see a Don Cheadle led Iron Man franchise.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron recently wrapped production and is out next May.
