Neil Cross writing escape from New York remake

This movie has been stuck in development limbo, for about a decade now. But it finally looks like 20th Century Fox’s remake of  Escape from New York is one step closer to happening. Neil Cross (Luther, Doctor Who) has signed on the dotted line, to write the script.

John Carpenter will act as Executive Producer on the new version.

The original Escape from New York was released in 1981 and starred Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken, a war hero turned criminal who is tasked with rescuing the President, after his plane crashes inside New York, which has been turned into a maximum security prison. It was followed by a very disapointting sequel, Escape from L.A in 1996.
