It’s no secret that Disney has been remaking their animated classics in the form of live-action. The most recent, the Jungle Book was a masterpiece and left me open to the idea of more live actions remakes. However, the one I’ve always been apprehensive about is the one they announced last night.
Guy Ritchie is set to direct a live-action version of Aladdin. The news fills me with intrigue and dread. I don’t doubt Ritchie’s ability, the story is about a “Street Rat” and he cut his directing teeth, with films about London “street Rats”. My only concern is, who will follow the late great Robin Williams?
Reports also suggest that Disney wants this to kickstart a franchise, based in Aladdin’s world.
